Ardie Helmer, a resident of The Village in Palmerton, celebrated his 96th birthday recently. He was born on Nov. 10, 1915. A family party was held to mark this special occasion.

Ardie has three children, Linda, wife of David Bergey of Ambler, Pa.; Bill, husband of Barbara Helmer of Phillipsburg, N.J.; and David, husband of Carol Helmer of Lehighton.He also has three grandchildren, Chad, husband of Jennifer Helmer of Allentown; Mark Bergey of Ohio; and Susan Bergey of New Jersey. Ardie also has a great-grandson, Sean Helmer.He is an Army veteran of World War II, where he served with the 38th Engineers.
