Three 'Pigs make All-Stars

Three prominent members of the first-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs C Erik Kratz, RHP Michael Schwimer and LHP Mike Zagurski were chosen to participate in the 24th annual Triple-A All-Star Game to be played on July 13 at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah, the International League announced today. The 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game will be nationally televised on MLB Network, beginning at 9 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, July 13.

A native of nearby Telford, Pa., Erik Kratz has had a leading role behind the plate for the IronPigs this season and is currently ranked second among all IL catchers with 10 home runs. Kratz is also among the team leaders in various offensive categories, including batting average (.277), on-base percentage (.374) and slugging percentage (.486). This is Kratz's first season as a member of the Phillies organization, having originally been selected by Toronto in the 29th round of the 2002 draft out of Eastern Mennonite University (Virginia).2011 marks the third consecutive year that Kratz has been named an IL mid-season All-Star.In his first full season pitching at the Triple-A ranks, Michael Schwimer has emerged as a dominant force in one of the IL's most talented and successful bullpens. The Fairfax, Va., native has posted a perfect 4-0 mark with a 2.01 ERA in a team-leading 40 appearances with a bullpen-high 56 strikeouts.
