Northwestern and Pleasant Valley gained wins in both baseball and soccer on Monday.

Other local winners included the Lehighton and Northern Lehigh baseball squads.

BASEBALL

Palmerton-Northwestern

Northwestern scored five runs in the first inning and closed it out with four in the fifth to take an 11-1 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.

Payton Bachman had two hits, stole two bases and scored three runs for the Tigers (1-1, 1-2). Sawyer Smith also had two hits, scored a run and had three RBI.

Christian Marcin had the only hit, a double, for the Blue Bombers (1-1, 1-1) and scored their only run.

Sawyer Smith got the win, while Nick Brogan suffered the loss.

Lehighton (2-0, 1-0) needed just five hits to hand Pocono Mountain East a 4-2 Mountain Valley Conference loss.

Tyler Harris had a hit and drove in two runs, while Matt Rebovich also had a hit, drove in a run and also scored. Garcia had two hits for the Cardinals.

Tyler Hill was the winning pitcher, striking out 11.

Northern Lehigh scored five runs in the final two innings to pull out a 6-5 win over Pen Argyl.

Jake Kern had three hits and scored three runs for the Bulldogs (3-0), while Kirk Bender added three RBI. Zach Palansky and Eric Snyder both had doubles with Palansky driving in two runs.

Conor Gum had two RBI for the Green Knights (1-1).

Pleasant Valley put up four runs in the third inning and then ended it with a seven-run sixth as it handed East Stroudsburg North a 12-1 Mountain Valley Conference setback.

Drew Borger had two doubles, two RBI, scored twice and stole a base for the Bears. Derrick Walling had two hits, including a home run, three RBI and scored a run and Travis Raseley had a double and single, scored twice, stole a base and drove in a run. Santana hit a solo home run in the fifth for ES North.

Russell Baldino struck out 11 and picked up the win for the Bears.

Kutztown used a seven-run seventh inning to run away from Tamaqua, 12-3, in non-league baseball action.

Mike Streisel and Brandon Hosler each had two hits for the Blue Raiders (2-1). Streisel had two doubles and a run scored, while Holser knocked in a run.

Bulldog pitcher Maggie Lear surrendered only three hits on the day, but picked up the loss. She struck out two and walked two.

Kristi Seiler and Megan Filchner each singled for Northern Lehigh (2-1, 1-1).

Panther Valley took three of the four doubles matches and went on to defeat Lehighton, 4-3, in MVC tennis action.

The only other win for Lehighton (1-4) came from the doubles team of James Sverchek and Mantz.

Wilson-Northwestern

Northwestern scored both its goals in the second half to pick up a 2-0 Colonial League win over Wilson.

Sara Jones scored the first goal off an assist from Rachel Kester. Katie Hughes hit a straight shot in at the 16 minute mark with Meghan Weber getting the assist to end the scoring.

The Tigers had 18 shots on goal, while the Warriors had 15.

Northwestern goalie Kelly Boyd had five saves.

Southern Lehigh jumped out to a five-goal lead in the first half and went on to down Northern Lehigh, 8-1, in Colonial League play.

Kaitlin Hogman and Malann Amory had two goals apiece, while Sydney Janoski, Maggie Cerciello, Ruylee Maron and Alison Newman had one each.

Shelby Snyder had the lone Northern Lehigh goal on a penalty kick.

Kaylee Owens had 20 saves in goal for the Bulldogs, while Melanie Novak had two saves for the Spartans.

N'hampton-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley beat up on Northampton in non-league play, winning 6-0.

Dianna Conner had two goals to lead the Bears (3-2). Kira Sever, Emily Schlogl, Maggie Patterson and Hannah Bernier added the other goals.

PV goalie Sarah Elmontacir needed to make just one save in net.

Moravian A.-Palmerton

Casey Rinfret had a huge performance , but it wasn't enough for Palmerton.

Despite Rinfret's hat trick, the Bombers fell to Moravian Academy, 5-4, in Colonial League action.

Palmerton's other goal was tallied by Morgan Myers.

Schuylkill Haven cruised to a sweep against Panther Valley.

In the boys meet, Jacoby earned three individual firsts to help the Hurricanes gain an 89-49 win.

Bouffard, Daniels and Mueller were all multiple winners in the girls meet to lead Haven to a 116-21 victory.

Panther Valley received a pair of firsts from Nase (long and high jumps) while Steph Blum (300 IH) provided the only individual win in the girls meet.
