Barnesville man changes mind, enters guilty plea

A Barnesville man was one of 10 people who changed their plea from not guilty to guilty when their cases were called for trial recently in Schuylkil County court. President Judge William E. Baldwin accepted the pleas but deferred sentencing to a later date and ordered the adult probation department prepare a pre-sentence investigation (PSI) report on each defendant. Those entering guilty pleas were as follows:

David Curtis Kemmerer, 47, of 49 Front Road, Barnesville, was cited by Trooper Michael J. Breznik with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol last March in New Philadelphia and also for driving while his license was suspended.James David Bennett, 34, Frackville, was cited by Patrolman Brian Reno, Pottsville police, with retail theft from Rite Aide Pharmacy.David Andrew Bevan, 50, Auburn, was cited by Trooper Kurt S. Salak with DUI after his car hit an embankment and rolled over on its roof off SR61 in West Brunswick Township.Peter Paul Futyma, 20. Ringtown, was cited by Trooper Brian Walters with DUI at a checkup point on SR924 in West Mahanoy Township and on a second DUI charge brought by Officer Michelle Ashman, Frackville police, and a charge of underage drinking.Nancy Jean Kane, 41, Schuylkill Haven, was cited by Patrolman David George, Schuylkill Haven police, with DUI.Maribeth M. Lantz, 21, Pottsville, is facing sentencing on the following criminal counts. She was cited by Chief Michael P. Carey, Saint Clair police, with DUI; by Cpl. Duane Frederick, Rush Township police, with retail theft from Walmart Store in Hometown; by Patrolman Joseph J. Leskin, Saint Clair police, with three counts of retail theft from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, and by Sgt. William Dempsey, Saint Clair police, with possession of drug paraphernalia.Christine M. Ridge, 44, Port Carbon, was cited by Patrolman Joseph C. Ferraro, Port Carbon Police, with theft of a bracelet.Gregory Lewis Wabo, 39, Shenandoah, was cited by Patrolman Gary Keppel, Shenandoah police, with retail theft from Rite Aide Pharmacy and by former Chief Matthew Nestor, Shenandoah police, with retail theft from Turkey Hill Mini Mart.Matthew Earl Wright, 21, South Hill, Va., was cited by Det. Steven B. Guers, Pottsville police, with corruption of minors and selling or furnishing alcohol beverage to minors.Erin J. Teter, 39, Shenandoah, was cited by Schuylkill County Drug Task Force with possession and delivery of a controlled substance (CS).Quakake manFrank John Kunkel, 34, of 139 Tamanend Road, Quakake, Rush Township, pleaded guilty to a charge of DUI and was placed on by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and costs of prosecution, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account fund, and enroll and complete the alcohol highway safety school. Two summary charges, careless driving and failing to drive on right side of road, were nol prossed. Kunkel was cited by Patrolman Corey Herring, Rush Township police.
