Drunk driving arrests reported

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on five driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers recently along Monroe County roads.

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, about 3:17 p.m. officers responded to a motorcycle accident with injuries along Allegheny Road in the Sierra View development, in Blakeslee. Upon arrival officers found a Honda street bike off the side of the road with the operator lying next to it.The driver was identified as Jeffrey Pase, 52, of Blakeslee. The bike left the road and struck a tree and Pass sustained a head injury. He was no wearing a helmet.While speaking with Pase officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. He was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Medevac helicopter for treatment of his injuries. Pase will be charged with several motor vehicle code violations. The DUI charge is pending blood test results, police added.Also on Wednesday about 5:58 p.m. officers were conducting a sobriety checkpoint and roving DUI patrols and made a traffic stop alogn Long Pond Road for a littering violation. The operator was identified as Nayelis Suarez, 23, of Allentown. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance-marijuana. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a plastic bag of marijuana was found on the person of a passenger, Luis Suarez-Bautista, 21, also of Allentown. Also located was second bag of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.Suarez was arrested for DUI and taken for a blood test. His passenger was charged with possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and scattering rubbish. The DUI charge is pending the test results.A third traffic stop was made on Wednesday about 11:43 p.m. along SR115 at Murphy's Lot, for multiple vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Jonathan Nicholson, 32, of Tunkhannock. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results. Nicholson was charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle.On Thursday, Nov. 25, about 1:38 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along SR940 for vehicle code violations. The driver was identfied as Lukas Perkins, 20, of Lincoln, Mass. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.Police said two passengers, a 17-year-old female and a 15-year-old male, both from Lincoln, had been drinking. A search of the vehicle was conducted and found were several empty beer cans and marijuana.The juveniles were turned over to their parents and will be cited for underage drinking.On Sunday, Nov. 27, about 2:15 a.m. officers observed a vehicle traveling along SR940 with a flat tire. The vehicle was riding on the rim and leaving marks on the road surface.A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Zachary Contopidis, 19, of Tobyhanna. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was transported to the Monroe DUI Center for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.A 17-year-old male passenger, also from Tobyhanna, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for underage drinking and later released to the custody of his mother.
