Fall rabies clinic planned

Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club, 676 Stewart Creek Rd., Lehighton, will host its Biannual Rabies Vaccination Clinic on Sunday, Sept. 27, on the Club grounds.

Clinic hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.Dr. Betsy Squires of Forest Inn Animal Hospital will be the veterinarian in charge.Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club started the clinic because of the many members who hunt and have dogs that are in the wild and exposed to the dangers of rabies. The club hosts rabies vaccination clinics in April and September at the Club. All dogs must be leashed and cats must be caged (no exceptions).Proceeds from the clinic will benefit Carbon Carbon Animal Response Team (CART).Pennsylvania law requires all dogs and household cats be vaccinated at three months of age and the vaccination be kept current throughout the animal's lifetime. If this is your pet's first vaccination, it must be repeated one year later to be effective. The vaccine administered is good for one year. All mammals are susceptible to the rabies virus. For more information, about the clinic, contact Bonnie Harley at (570) 386-3522.
