A joint fire prevention and Halloween safety program was held Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Rush Elementary School, Hometown. The Hometown Fire Company and Fire Police appeared at the school and showed a video on fire safety, displayed fire equipment and apparatus, put on demonstrations and gave the students a chance to meet mascot Toby, a dalmation. The Rush Township Police Department gave Halloween safety tips, such as walking on sidewalks, carrying flashlights and handed out Safe Halloween bags, courtesy of the Rush Township Board of Supervisors, that included fluorescent bands for the students to wear while trick or treating. Among the participants in the program were, from left, Rush Township Patrolman Bob Minnick, Hometown Assistant Fire Chief Robert Filloy, Fire Company Captain Dave Clewell and Rush Twp. Corporal Duane Frederick.
