Thanksgiving service

The annual Panther Valley Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at 7 p.m.., tonight at the former St. Paul's UCC, Hazard and Chestnut Streets, Summit Hill. All are welcome. Pastors from

area churches are participating, with Pastor Fred Rogers preaching.

Service canceled

The Wednesday evening worship at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church will not be held on November 25. This peaceful service with Holy Communion will resume next week at 7p.m.

Garbage pickup

Because of Thanksgiving, garbage will be picked up Wednesday for those customers who usually have their pickups on Thursday.

Summit Hill

Lions to meet

The Summit Hill Lions Club will meet tonight at 6:30 at the Parkview Inn. Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president, will be in charge of the business meeting.

The guest speaker will be Linda Benner, Lions regional chairperson.

The club's social committee has finalized plans for this year's Christmas party. The date is Sunday, Dec. 13. The day will start with club members and guests attending the Bach and Handel Concert to be held at the Angela Theater, Coaldale, at 3 p.m., followed by the Christmas party at The Lantern, Nesquehoning, beginning at 5 o'clock.

Bloodmobile planned

The Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile will visit Summit Hill in December. Sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church, the bloodmobile will be headquartered in the church hall on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 2-7 p.m. A goal of 35 pints has been set.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center is the only blood supplier to our local hospitals (Blue Mountain Health System Lehighton and Palmerton, St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network (Miner's Memorial, Coaldale).

Office to be closed

The Summit Hill Water Authority office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

St. Paul Lutheran

Members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will meet on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m., to decorate the church for the Advent/Christmas season. Volunteers are asked to report at that time.

Members are also reminded the deadline for submitting donations of white gift items is Sunday, Nov. 29.

Lansford

St. Ann Society

The St. Ann Society, Branch No. 140, affiliated with St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will hold its annual Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Lansford AMVETS Post Home, beginning at 1 p.m. For more information, members can call Louise Dunstan, (570) 645-4354.

Delinquent bills

Lansford Borough is attempting to collect its delinquent sanitation bills. Residents who would like to pay their accounts and avoid extra fees, are asked to contact Tax Collector Daniel Wynn at 1 W. Ridge St. or they can send their payments to Lansford Borough, P.O. Box 126, Lansford, Pa. 18232.

AMVETS Post 83

Lansford AMVETS Post 83 will host a children's Christmas party for club members' children, ages newborn to 12, on Dec. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Post home. To register a child for the party, visit the AMVETS at 201 W. Ridge St., and sign the sign-up sheet.

Coaldale

C.H.O.S.E.

The Coaldale C.H.O.S.E. Recreational Organization will be hosting the Christmas Tree Lighting, Caroling and Santa's arrival on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. The event will be held outside of the borough hall, Third Street, Coaldale.

Santa will arrive on the Coaldale Fire Truck with lots of pre-Christmas gifts for the children. There will be a short program, arrival of Santa and then hot beverages and Christmas goodies will be served in the borough hall. The community is invited to come and enjoy the company of their neighbors and friends and participate in the festivities.

Nesquehoning

Christmas karaoke

Christmas karaoke will be held at Meed's Methodist Church on Dec. 4 starting at 7 p.m. There is no admission.

Woman's club

The Christmas dinner for the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will be held at Macaluso's at the Lantern on Dec. 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable item for the town's food pantry. President Ginny Novy will collect the items.

The next executive board meeting will be held at the home of Joyce Bond on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
