Meeting change

Due to the schedule of Eldred Township's solicitor, the Eldred Township supervisors' meetings will take place on the second Wednesday of each month, not the first Wednesday the meeting has previously been scheduled.The next meeting of the Eldred Township Board of Supervisors will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company on Kunkletown Road.Lions BoardThe Western Pocono Lions Club board of directors will meet at 7 p.m. today, at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.All Lions are welcome.The club had the Pleasant Valley Leo Club President Lily Knan and secretary Kevin Miller as guests at the club's last meeting.The Leos reported that the Leo Club collected three pickup loads of food for the Effort Methodist Church food pantry and PVEN at Thanksgiving.The Lions Club will be at the high school's annual Night of Unity on Feb. 23.Club President Cindy Rodenbough presented a certificate of appreciation to Lion Zane Burke for his participation in the club's used eyeglass collection. Each soup pot will have a team name so church and Sunday school attendees can vote for their respective favorite team by placing a donation in that particular pot.Salem-St. Paul's in Kresgeville has announced: Help score a touchdown for PVEN (West End Food Pantry) by bringing cans of pasta sauce and soup, peanut butter, and cereal to church. Money is also welcome.Safe HavenSafe Haven Pet Rescue will hold a dog adoption day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Ace Hardware, Route 209, Brodheadsville, next to Dunkelberger's.The group will have many young dogs available to meet and get to know. Mike Quinnan of Our Lady Queen of Peace church in Gilbert will be traveling to Rome on Sunday evening to be commissioned as a Missionary of Mercy by Pope Francis. Father Mike will be happy to take the church family's prayer requests with him, especially requests for God's mercy.
