Nesquehoning police investigate hit-and-run

Nesquehoning police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday on the unit block of West Catawissa Street.

The vehicle struck a parked 2017 Honda Civic, which sustained heavy rear end damage and was pushed up onto the sidewalk and onto a snow bank. The truck then continued southbound on Route 209.

Robert Phillips, the owner of the Civic, said that his vehicle was struck so hard that it was pushed 20 feet from where he had parked it that evening.

A headlight assembly from a newer model Chevrolet or GMC pickup was recovered at the scene of the vehicle that struck the Civic, police said.

Video obtained from a neighbor’s surveillance camera showed that it was a dark colored or silver truck.

The vehicle in question will have heavy front passenger side damage and is missing the passenger side headlight.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the truck or the driver is asked to contact Nesquehoning police at 570-669-9111.
