Care Net of Carbon County will be holding its annual fundraising banquet and silent auction on Nov. 16 at Whispering Pines Banquet Hall in Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company on Route 903 in Jim Thorpe. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for viewing auction items and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Care Net is a nonprofit ministry supporting those facing pregnancy and encouraging healthy choices in sexuality, relationships and parenting. The organization is funded solely by donations and receives no government funding. There is no charge to clients for any of the services offered by the organization

According to director Susan DeMara, the organization relieves some of the burden placed on government-funded social programs. With facilities located in Lehighton and Nesquehoning, Care Net serves 25 to 40 clients a week with information, fetal and maternal health services, counseling, reliable information and guidance,
