A Carbon County woman was sentenced to a county prison term this week after pleading guilty in the county court to a theft count.

She was one of 11 defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Packer incident

Kayla Marie Smith

, 27, of Palmerton, was sentenced to serve three to one day less 24 months in the county prison on a theft count.

She was charged for an incident on July 9, 2017, by state police at Hazleton for her part in entering a home along Grist Mill Road in Packer Township and removing items, including Xanax tablets and jewelry.

She was also ordered to render 50 hours of community service when paroled and have no contact with the victim. The sentence runs concurrent with a state prison term she is serving in SCI-Cambridge Springs, Crawford County.

Other pleas

Kenneth Diaz

, 39, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of terroristic threats.

He was arrested on May 8 by Nesquehoning police for threatening his ex-wife.

Matika sentenced him to time-served, 17 days, to one year in jail and ordered he get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Kimberly Anne Endicott

, 47, of Port Carbon, Schuylkill County, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft.

She was arrested on May 8 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store. She was involved in the theft of merchandise valued at $2,285.95.

Matika sentenced her to serve one to 12 months in prison with credit for 35 days already served and paroled. She was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, supply a DNA sample, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the Walmart store.

Drew Mikel Reed

, 27, of Auburn, Schuylkill County, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy — retail theft for his part in an incident on March 16, 2017, at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. He was involved in the theft of items valued at $1,242.12, which included several drones, a 32-inch television and a BB gun.

He was placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, render 50 hours of community service, make restitution of $1,242.15 and stay out of the store.

Jerry I. Olivencia

, 26, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of defiant trespass with a felony count of criminal trespass dropped in a plea bargain.

He was arrested for an incident on May 15 by Summit Hill police in the 300 block of Lansford Court.

Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Jenelle Lee Bassetti

, 30, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense, in exchange for a charge of simple assault being dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.

She was charged for an incident on Feb. 27 by Kidder Township police. An Albrightsville man was the listed victim.

She was fined $100.

Daniel James Sullivan

, 32, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of harassment as a summary offense, with a charge of simple assault dropped in a plea bargain.

He was charged by Kidder Township police for an incident along Route 534 in Albrightsville with a female victim.

He was fined $100.

Daniel Bernard Engroff

, 41, of Weissport, pleaded to one count of false identification to law enforcement.

He was arrested on May 12, 2017, by Lansford police in the 200 block of East Patterson Street.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Katlin Nicole Frohnheiser

, 26, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of unauthorized use of an automobile.

She was charged by Nesquehoning police for an incident on March 2, 2017, when she took the 2010 Ford Focus of a borough resident without permission.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Frohnheiser is currently an inmate in the county prison on other charges.

Tasha Lynn Osborn

, 38, of Lansford, pleaded to one count each of criminal mischief and summary offense of driving without a license. She was arrested on Nov. 22, 2017, by Lansford police at the Family Dollar Store at 700 E. Patterson St., following a crash.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, render 50 hours of community service and make restitution of $470.

Jocelyn Helen Tiglio

, 23, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of resisting arrest.

She was arrested on Jan. 27 by Weatherly police for an incident in the 600 block of East Main Street with a female victim.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and render 50 hours of community service.

The sentence runs concurrent with a prison term she is now serving in the county jail.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
