Nesquehoning is considering an offer a neighboring borough has suggested to share police services due to a shortage of manpower in borough police departments.
Last week, borough council briefly discussed a letter it received from Lansford Borough Council President Bruce Markovich, who said that a “short-term solution to our immediate police staffing issues may be a shared services agreement between each municipality.”
The letter was also sent to Summit Hill for council’s consideration.
Mayor Sam Kitchko said that he thought this was something Nesquehoning should look into since the town has had issues with keeping a full police staff due to injuries or illness and part-timers leaving.
Council agreed and President David Hawk said the borough would fill out the paperwork from the state Department of Economic Development and see where it goes.
