The majority of campsites are now open at Locust Lake State Park in Barnesville after necessary inspections by the Department of Labor & Industry were completed at two new shower houses.

The shower houses opened Thursday and campsites were available for reservations beginning Friday.

A small number of electric sites, along with the new full-hookup sites, will remain unavailable while the park awaits a determination from PPL regarding the electrical service needed to support the new campground kiosk.

Only non-electric sites had been available at the park this year, and during the end of last year due to the construction project.

Work on the new shower houses began in the fall of 2023 and no camping was available at the state park in 2024.
