Two Monroe County residents died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday at 6:28 a.m. on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks identified the victims as Jaylan Henry, 27, of Blakeslee, and Alexander Ntoas, 24, of Stroudsburg.
Police said they were dispatched to 6625 Route 209 to investigate the crash and determined a vehicle traveling south failed to maintain its lane of travel and struck a northbound vehicle. They said the impact caused the striking vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise before it came to rest partially on a grassy uphill embankment on the shoulder of the road.
Police said the second vehicle also rotated counter-clockwise before coming to rest in the northbound lane of travel with its rear bumper resting on top of a guide rail on the shoulder of the road.
Police said Henry passed away while being transported by personnel from the Suburban EMS corps to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, Easton.
They said Ntoas was partially ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Blue Ridge Fire Department, PennDOT’s Monroe County workforce, the Monroe County Coroner and a local towing service.
They said Route 209 from Hickory Valley to Beaver Valley roads was shut down for an extended period of time after the crash.
