The investigation into a body that was found early Friday morning in Jim Thorpe continues.

Carbon County Coroner Mark K. Smith said that around 4:45 a.m., the coroner’s office was notified that a man’s body had been discovered in the area of 244 County Lot Road.

Smith said a joint investigation involving the Jim Thorpe Police Department and the coroner’s office is being conducted.

He said the body was taken to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center, where an autopsy has been completed.

Cause and manner of death is pending completion of the investigation.

Smith said the name of the deceased is being withheld right now to allow family time to mourn their loss.

He said further information will be released as it becomes available.
