Parryville to conduct income survey

Parryville will conduct an income survey as it continues to mull its sewage plan options.

Borough sewage enforcement officer Andrea Martin, of Barry Isett & Associates, reviewed alternatives with borough council on Monday.

“We had asked her to come to share on what our options are, so she did lay out some options for us at this point,” council President Cathy Hawk said. “She knows the borough would never be able to afford an exorbitant sewage plan.”

Martin suggested the borough should have an income survey done in which only the downtown residents would be affected.

“The income survey is to kind of prove to the state that our constituents cannot afford to have an exorbitant plan or anything like that,” she said. “That’s our next step is to do the income survey.”

Hawk noted that the borough previously went house to house, and added, “that’s what we’ll do again is go house to house.”

She said that would likely take place within the next month or so.

Last month several residents expressed concerns with the borough’s sewage plans.

It was noted at that time that council Vice President Jason Smith has been working with state Rep. Doyle Heffley’s office to determine funding sources.

Storm cleanup

Also on Monday, council Vice President Jason Smith thanked the borough’s road crew for its work to keep the roads cleaned as best they could during the recent storm.

Hawk said road crew consists of just two members, and they started very early in morning.
