The Carbon County coroner said a 19-year-old woman was killed in a crash early Saturday morning outside Junedale.

Shortly after midnight, emergency crews were dispatched to Banks Township outside of Junedale, for a single vehicle accident. The vehicle had left the roadway striking several trees then coming to rest on its side.

The woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:41 a.m., was a passenger in the vehicle.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place this Monday at the Lehigh County Coroners Office and Forensics Center. Name, cause and manner will be released upon the completion of the autopsy.

This accident remains an active investigation involving the Pa. State Police Reconstruction unit, The Carbon County Coroners Office as well as the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office.
