Schuylkill County Chief Assessor Kent Hatter said he took the Certified Pennsylvania Evaluator Test and passed.
As of Friday, he is waiting for the online approval issued by the Pennsylvania Department of State board of certified appraisers. He took the exam last Wednesday in Harrisburg.
Approval is needed according to the Assessors Certification Act. A three-year grace period is given when hired, according to the Assessors’ Association of Pennsylvania.
Hatter said 28 hours of continuing credits is needed within a two-year time frame to maintain certification. The county can reimburse the cost.
Two people in the office are also enrolled in the class, Jessica Dasch and Sheila Johnson, Hatter said.
Three others in the office, Marci Kleckner, a market analyst, Christine Zimmerman, deputy assessor, and Megan Felty, program coordinator, have the certification, Hatter said.
