Rays of Hope for Addiction will host the second annual Overdose Awareness Day Memorial Drive. The event will take place at The Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church at 915 N. Fifth St., Stroudsburg, on Sunday.
Rays of Hope is hosting the event as part of International Overdose Awareness Day to remember those who have died as a result of drug overdose and to reduce the stigma surrounding drug-related deaths. The church parking lot opens at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m., featuring live music, a pinwheel dedication, shared stories, dedication to lives lost, Narcan distribution, information and resources.
The program will be followed by the memorial drive to honor loved ones and friends who have lost their lives to this disease. The drive runs through downtown Stroudsburg and disperses at the Hughes Library.
The memorial drive is free and open to the public. Those interested in participating are encouraged to hang signs, pictures and purple ribbon on their car as well as write names on the windows to remember those lives lost. Washable car window paint and ribbons will be available.
Rays of Hope for Addiction is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of overdose and ending the stigma surrounding addiction.
