A Lansford woman admitted assaulting her boyfriend during a domestic dispute.

She was one of four defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea on May 21 in Carbon County court before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Lansford incident

Alicia Marie Kachmar,

30, pleaded to one count of simple assault for an incident on Nov. 6, 2019, in Lansford. Police responded to a residence for a reported domestic dispute and took Kachmar into custody.

Serfass sentenced her to time-served (36 days) to 18 months in prison and ordered her to supply a DNA sample, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render 75 hours of community service and attend and successfully complete a anger management course.

Other pleas

John Hower,

40, of Lansford, pleaded in three pending cases to one count of retail theft and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

He was arrested on the theft count at the Walmart store by Mahoning Township police on April 21, 2018. The drug arrests occurred on Dec. 6, 2019, filed by Nesquehoning police following a traffic stop. He was a passenger in the vehicle and found him with methamphetamine. The second drug arrest occurred on Dec. 14, 2019, filed by Lansford police who responded to a domestic complaint and found drugs. In that case a simple assault count was dropped in a plea deal.

Serfass deferred sentencing to June 23 when Hower is scheduled to appear in court on other charges he has already pleaded to.

Jennifer Gibson,

21, of Walnutport, entered guilty pleas in two pending cases to one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft.

She was arrested on the theft count on June 26, 2019, by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store. The drug arrest occurred on Oct. 8, 2019, filed by Lansford police following a vehicle stop. Gibson was a passenger in the vehicle and was found with a needle that had methamphetamine residue on it. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped in a plea deal.

On the retail theft count Serfass placed her on probation for a year and on the drug charge six months probation, with the terms running consecutively. She was also ordered to supply a DNA sample, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render a total of 75 hours of community service.

Nicole Lauren Mason,

38, of Wilkes-Barre, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia with a charge of possession of a controlled substance dropped in a plea deal. She was arrested on May 25, 2017, by Palmerton police following the execution of a search warrant at a residence along Lehigh Avenue.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to continue drug and alcohol counseling and render 50 hours of community service. The term runs concurrent with a probation sentence she is serving in Lackawanna County.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation.
