A potluck lunch was held Sunday afternoon at Valley View, an event venue owned by Yenser’s Tree Farm in Mahoning Valley.
“This has been a journey since 2024,” said Kim Werley, the Carbon County representative to the America250PA commission. “It was in 2024 that I was appointed by the Carbon County commissioners to lead this effort.”
Werley took time to thank the steering committee members, the Carbon County commissioners, and all the local communities that hosted various events to celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial.
“I hope you got out and enjoyed all the festivals, parades and activities that have been going on in our county,” Werley said.
The potluck idea started in Utah, was shared with the America250 commission, and has been set in motion around Pennsylvania and the nation.
“Also, a special thanks to Yenser’s for allowing us to hold this lunch here,” Werley added.
Many of those attending brought along hot dishes, side dishes, salads, and a lot of delicious desserts. Hot dogs and beverages were provided.
