Tamaqua woman again charged with indecent exposure
A Tamaqua woman, who was dancing naked in the borough’s downtown on June 19, was naked in public again Friday afternoon.
This time, Tamaqua police said Alysha Hartshorn was unclothed near a playground where children were playing.
As a result, Hartshorn, 39, was charged and sent to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
According to the police, officers were called to the 500 block of Washington Street around 12:14 p.m. for a naked woman.
The caller said he returned home to find Hartshorn sitting without pants in a chair at the rear of a property. The caller said Hartshorn’s legs were spread wide open and she was facing North Railroad Street, which is Route 309.
Police arrived and told Hartshorn that she could not be exposed in public. At the time, Hartshorn was wearing a shirt and had a hooded garment wrapped around her waist to cover her lower body.
Police said Hartshorn told them, “This is not naked.” She then said, “This is naked,” and removed the garment from her lower body. She then removed her shirt, which revealed a see-through, lingerie-style bodysuit, police said.
Officers noted that the behavior occurred in clear view of children and others at the North Ward Playground, as well as motorists traveling south on Route 309.
Hartshorn was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel on charges of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct and sent to prison.
It was the second time this month that Hartshorn was charged with indecent exposure. At 5:30 a.m. on June 19, officers said she was naked at the Five Points intersection and at a bank parking lot.
Also this month, she used a baseball bat to break car windows in Tamaqua.
Hartshorn broke into a home in March, took weapons and was involved in a 4-hour standoff with law enforcement.
