Walnutport Borough Council

Walnutport Borough Council took the following action last week:

• Agreed to spend $3,200 to replace trees at the Veterans Memorial Monument on Washington Street.

• Agreed to spend $3,000 to have Lorah Excavating help Public Works help cut down Washington Alley to resolve water issues.

• Agreed to apply for the 2024-2025 block grant for Willow Avenue.

• Agreed to activate the Civil Service Commission to conduct testing.

• Authorized borough solicitor Michael Corriere to file an application with Northampton County for an exemption for real estate taxes with a $250 fee.

• Agreed to rescind the resignation letter of the part-time secretary, and then voted to reinstate the part-time secretary.

• On a 6-0 vote, with one abstention, agreed to hire Bryce Greene as a part-time, as-needed public works employee. Councilman Harold Greene abstained because Bryce is his son.

• Appointed Jonathan Kenyon to the Walnutport Authority to replace the vacant seat left behind from the passing of Susan Schneck.

• Agreed to allow the Northern Lehigh School District to use the softball field for their senior night on May 6, with a rain date of May 7.
