Two JTASD staffers recognized

The Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees presented the 2024 Lauretta Woodson Awards to Janice Ohl, administrative assistant at the Jim Thorpe High School, and Claire Burns, physical education instructor at the L.B. Morris Elementary School, Jim Thorpe.

Each received a plaque and a pin during the spring luncheon held at the Carbon Career & Technical Institute.

“These awards are given each spring to an educator and a support staff person from one of the school districts each year,” Gloria Bowman, president of the PASR explained. “This year, the recipients are from the Jim Thorpe School District.”

The PASR is also accepting applications for the Educational Support Grants that will be awarded in the fall.

“The grants are available for teachers from any of the school districts within Carbon County,” explained Molly Phillips, Chair of the Educational Support Committee. “Deadline to apply is June 1st.”
