Lehighton to discuss secretary vacancies

Lehighton plans to meet to discuss a pair of vacant positions.

Borough council will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to address the vacancies of the borough secretary and borough utility billing clerk positions.

Borough Manager Dane DeWire said the borough plans to hire both positions at that time.

DeWire informed borough council earlier this month that the borough received a lot of resumes for both its open secretary and utility billing clerk positions.

He said at that time that if held, the special meeting would be to hire.

Council President Grant Hunsicker suggested at that time that council look to appoint a committee.

Hunsicker, along with council members Ryan Saunders and Steven Hawk said they would serve on the committee.

The salary for the position is $45,000 to $55,000 per year ($21.63 to $26.44 per hour), based on qualifications and experience.

The borough utility billing clerk is a full-time in-office position which provides reception duties and clerical support to residents.

The advertised salary for the position is $22.73 per hour ($47,278 per year).
