Tamaqua man faces indecent exposure charge

A Tamaqua man who is in custody for stealing a gun from his sister’s home in West Penn Township now faces charges of attempting to lure a child into a vehicle, indecent exposure and open lewdness, according to paperwork filed by Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville.

Troopers filed the latest set of charges against Blaine Arner on Friday. Arner is a registered sex offender.

The charges stem from an incident on Monday in Lynn Township, Lehigh County. Arner has not yet been arraigned on the most recent offenses.

On Thursday, state police said a man suspected of exposing himself to a 9-year-old girl in Lynn Township Monday afternoon was in custody on unrelated charges in Schuylkill County.

In the Lynn Township incident, police said the girl was walking her dog with other children when an older man in a pickup lured her to his vehicle. When she approached, police said the man was not wearing pants and exposed himself.

West Penn Police Chief James Bonner said that he was contacted Wednesday by the Fogelsville state police about a case they were working on involving Arner.

Bonner noted that Arner was not home, so he contacted Arner’s sister. The sister told police that he had stayed at her home the evening before and that she discovered he had removed a gun from the residence.

Police spotted Arner driving in West Penn Township and he fled when they attempted to stop him. Police eventually blocked him in and found the gun in his possession.

West Penn Police charged him with possession of firearm prohibited, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and firearms not to be carried without license. He was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $75,000 monetary bail on those charges.
