Two teachers resign at Panther Valley

The Panther Valley School Board accepted the resignation of two teachers in a number of personnel moves Wednesday.

Resigning are Christine Rosenberger, junior/senior high school special education teacher, effective Feb. 2, and Barbara Hadnagy, intermediate school teacher, at the end of the school year.

The board also approved hiring Jamie Gallagher as human resources/payroll specialist, effective Feb. 1, at the current rate of the confidential administrative staff contract of $20.50 an hour.

The board also hired Courtnee Hartman as accounts receivable/tax clerk at a salary of $18.50 an hour.

In other personnel matters, the board:

• Approved Superintendent Dave McAndrew to attend the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials in Hershey March 5 to 8 at cost of $934.56, which includes registration, room, and mileage.

• Approved Tony Gerhart, Jen Squillace and Janet Fisher to attend the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference in Hershey Feb. 6. The cost is $647.20, which includes registration, meals and mileage.

• Approved three-credit courses for Joseph Damiano, a junior/senior high school teacher, at Bloomsburg University at $516 a credit. The courses are Business Research, Communication and Educational Strategies, and Classroom Strategies Development in BCIT.

• Approved a one-credit course for Paula Jones, district assistant principal, at Lehigh University, dissertation – Maintenance of Candidacy, final. Cost is $590 a credit.

• Approved a six-credit course for Amber McFadden, elementary teacher, at East Stroudsburg University at a cost of $516 a credit, Reading Clinical Practicum.

• Approved a three-credit course for Kimberly Bayer, junior/senior high school teacher, at PennWest University at a cost of $516 a credit, Second Language Methodologies/Content Based ESL.

• Approved Julie Gower as the intermediate school computer tech effective for the 2023-24 school year at the current rate of the PVEA contract.

• Approved the following revised job descriptions: human resources/payroll specialist; executive assistant to the principal, accounts receivable/tax collector clerk, and accounts payable/federal programs clerk.

• Approved placing Nicole Wynings, elementary teacher, in the master’s degree column of the PVEA pay scale effective immediately for the 2023-24 school year.

• Approved the position of part-time general worker/server at the junior/senior high school, effective immediately.

• Approved the revised hourly rate of Yaniri Espinal De Rodriguez, part-time general worker from $16.10 to $15.89, retroactive to Dec. 1. An incorrect rate was listed on a previous agenda.
