LVHN Colleague of the month

Lee Ann Phillips

Town: Andreas

Work location: LVH-Carbon

Job Title: Manager

Department you work in: Acute Care Rehabilitation

About your job, and why you like it: I support the Acute Care Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy teams at LVH Carbon. I love my job because it gives me the opportunity to work with my therapy, nursing, case management and physician colleagues to ensure patients receive compassionate, quality care they deserve close to home.

How long have you worked there: I have worked for LVHN since 2019. Along with LVH Carbon I also oversee the Acute Care Rehabilitation Departments at LVH Dickson City and LVH Schuylkill.

Challenges/proud moments of your job: I am originally from Summit Hill and lived in this area most of my life, so I was excited to learn LVHN was building a new hospital in Carbon County. Being chosen to be part of a team that builds a new hospital from the ground up is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am grateful I was given this opportunity and I am very proud to be part of the LVH Carbon family!

Background, Education: I have enjoyed a diverse career in health care for the past 30 years. My career started in nursing with a Registered Nurse diploma from Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing. I then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Penn State University.

After working in nursing for several years I decided to pursue a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Misericordia University. I have enjoyed many years taking care of patients at the bedside both as a nurse and an occupational therapist. I now enjoy supporting and mentoring the next generation of bedside therapists and health care providers in my current role.

Family: I live just a few minutes away from LVH Carbon with my husband Tom. We enjoy traveling, especially out West to Colorado and Utah and overseas to Germany. When not traveling we enjoy hiking and exploring our beautiful local outdoors with our German shepherd Schutz.

Why you like working for LVHN: I love working for LVHN because I feel supported by leadership in the work I do and I am part of a great team. My team members throughout LVH Carbon and the network are truly like family. I also love the emphasis LVHN places on evidence-based care and continuing education for colleagues to ensure those we serve receive the latest advances in treatment for optimal outcomes.
