State police at Frackville

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police said they took Quint Dortch, 36, of Lansford, into custody for driving under the influence after an incident at 11:35 p.m. July 22 at the intersection of Mahanoy Avenue and South Street in Rush Township.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when he showed signs of impairment during a sobriety checkpoint that was being conducted by troopers.

• A 48-year-old Frackville man reported someone stole $2,000 from him. He filed the report at 1:48 p.m. July 29. It happened on Altamont Boulevard in West Mahanoy Township.

• A 46-year-old Ashland woman is the victim of a harassment by physical contact incident that was reported to police at 3:27 p.m. Aug. 7. It happened on Pennsylvania Avenue in West Mahanoy Township when the woman was struck by a man.

* Jarett Evanco, 23, of McAdoo was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, following his arraignment on charges relating to him discharging a handgun into an apartment on South Kennedy Drive in McAdoo at 1:36 a.m. Aug. 3. He is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied building, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Evanco is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

• Police said the driver of a 2021 Subaru Outback that struck a deer at 8:16 a.m. July 26 on the Clamtown Road in East Brunswick Township was uninjured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

• James Best, 28, of Minersville, was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance while (marijuana) at 9:58 p.m. July 3. Police said he was observed driving a 2009 Chevrolet erratically and at a high rate of speed on Interstate 81 in Kline Township.

• Police are investigating a failure to comply with Megan’s Law sexual offender reporting requirements case. They stopped the driver of a 2008 Ford at 7:04 p.m. June 9 at 31 Eleanor Avenue in West Mahanoy Township.

• Cynthia Alba, 40, of Middleport, was cited for disorderly conduct at 1:59 p.m. Aug. 6. Police said it happened on Wetherill Street in New Philadelphia. Police said Alba left the scene before their arrival and was unable to be located.

• A 31-year-old McAdoo man has been arrested on drug possession charges. Police said a complainant arrived at the barracks to report illegal drugs he found in his son. During the investigation, it was learned the man was in possession of illegal drugs. The incident was reported at 11:03 p.m. Aug. 6 on Silverbrook Road in Kline Township.

• Justin R. Schmauch, 31, of Brockton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 1:21 a.m. Aug. 7 on Sanderson Street in Schuylkill Township. Police said he was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry westbound when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Police said he was transported by personnel from the Tamaqua Community Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg. The car was towed from the scene.

• A mobile home in Ryan Township was burglarized between 5 p.m. Aug. 5 and 10 a.m. Aug. 6. The victim is a Summit Hill man who reported someone entered the home that was located in a wooded area and took several items before fleeing in an unknown direction by an unknown means.

• Joseph Dabashinsky, 37, and Brittany Dabashinsky, 36, of Barnesville, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police were called to a domestic disturbance at 1:12 p.m. July 17 at 21 Oak Avenue in Ryan Township.
