State of Carbon events June 14, July 12

The Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corp., with presenting sponsor St. Luke’s University Health Network, will host a two-part program on the state of Carbon County.

The State of the County will be presented on two Wednesdays, June 14 and July 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Blue Mountain Resorts.

The program has been reformatted to provide a more complete overview of the key areas impacting Carbon County. Part 1, scheduled for June 14, will focus on government, economic development, tourism and housing. Part 2, July 12, will cover health care, education in health care and education.

“We see the importance to continue to invest in our county by providing 24/7 critical care to patients,” said John Nespoli, president of St. Luke’s Carbon Campus. “The services we offer reduce the need for patients to be transported away from the comfort of their community for their health care needs. Providing these services to Carbon County is our network’s commitment to increase access to the world-class care St. Luke’s provides.”

June 14 will feature reports presented by Congresswoman Susan Wild’s office, state Sen. David Argall, state Rep. Doyle Heffley, Carbon County Commissioners Rocky Ahner, Chris Lukasevich and Wayne Nothstein. Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau CEO Chris Barrett, CCEDC Economic Development Director Kathy Henderson and Matthew Marks and Howard Shaffer of Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors Association will round out the presentations. This year, a question and answer panel will also be included. Questions can be submitted in advance.

Sponsors of this year’s State of the County, include Blue Mountain Resort, Mauch Chunk Trust Company, PPL, and Lehigh Valley Hospital-Carbon.
