Carbon County Sheriff Daniel Zeigler has secured his first full term in office after the write-in votes were counted.

The county election office updated the unofficial primary results on Wednesday after all write-ins were counted and Zeigler was named the winner on the Democratic ticket with 349 write-in votes. He already had secured the Republican ticket during the election, defeating Richard Branche and Daniel McLean.

A total of 503 write-ins on the Democratic ticket were received.

Incumbent Robert W. Miller Jr., county coroner, will have an opponent in the November election.

Mark Smith received a total of 591 write-in votes on the Republican ticket, moving him ahead to the General Election.

Miller had received 3,264 votes on the Democratic ticket during the primary. He also received 125 write-ins on the Republican ticket.

Other county races already had been settled with little to no contests in the primary.

District Attorney Michael Greek, who secured his next term on the Republican ticket, also received 172 write-in votes on the Democratic ticket.
