Easter events

Friday

• New England Fire Company has several events planned: March 31, ham ticket drawing; April 7, Kids Easter Egg Hunt and fire house filling sale; April 7, Good Friday seafood combo dinner - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. May 13.

Saturday

• St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mahoning Valley is holding an Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. It is open to children through age 13.

• An egg hunt is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in the Palmerton borough park, open to children infant through age 12. The egg hunt is made possible by Palmerton Chamber of Commerce for their sponsorship of the parade, and Aquashicola Fire Company for assistance in setting up the egg hunt.

Each age group will hunt separately when directed so that parents can watch each of their children participate.

• Cornerstone Community Church, Polk Township Road, Kresgeville, is holding an egg hunt on Saturday from3 to 5 p.m., rain or shine. The egg hunt is for toddlers through 4th grade, with prizes and raffles for older children. There is also a time for a spring family photo and an Easter story book walk. There will be refreshments, including cotton candy, popcorn, ice cream and beverages. Everything is free.

• Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced an egg-ceptional scavenger hunt for 10 a.m. Saturday, for the whole family.

Participants will explore the Kettle Creek property, discover “egg clues” and figure out the answers, all while learning about animals that begin life as an egg.

Prizes will be awarded families who complete the hunt. There is a cost per family group.

• Palmerton Pool annual egg hunt will be held 11 a.m. Saturday for ages 0-10. All children are welcome as “buddies” will be provided for anyone needing a little extra help.”

• Diligent Fire Company #3, 330 Center Ave., Jim Thorpe from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, drive-through Easter egg and candy handout by the Easter bunny and assisting firemen. Please enter the drive-through from School Alley and exit onto Center Avenue.

• Country Junction will host free egg hunts at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 1, 2 and 8; pictures with Easter bunny, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1, 2 and 8. Contact events@countryjunction.com or call 610-333-5354.

Sunday

• Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting a free community Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. on Sunday. It is for all ages up to and including grade 5. There will be games, food, an egg hunt and the Easter bunny will be available for photos as well as lots of fun and prizes.

• The annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Packerton Old Timer’s Club will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The event is open to all children ages 1-12. There will be tricky trays, raffles and prizes for the kids. Food and drink will also be available.

• The Easter bunny is coming to West Penn Archery Club, on Sunday, with an egg hunt, basket raffles, food, and, of course, archery. Doors open at 11 a.m. and egg hunt starts at 1 p.m. The club is located at 147 Archery Club Road, New Ringgold.

• The American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert is having a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt with 5,000 eggs on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The post is providing free pictures with the Easter Bunny and working with a local Boy Scout troop and West End Food Pantry. We are collecting the proceeds to help our local veterans including our veterans in rest homes. Call 856-236-2168.

April 8

• Ross Township park committee is planning a free Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. April 8.

• St. Matthew’s UCC community Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. April 8. This hunt is for babies and children up to age 12. They will hunt for eggs by age groups. Afterward, there will be a snack, craft, games, and time to visit with the Easter bunny. The event will be held in the church grove, located at 124 Picnic Lane, Kunkletown. In the event of extreme rain or flooding, the event will move indoors to the church, 102 Church Road, Kunkletown. Contact Staci Gower at 610-283-4696 with any questions or for directions.

• Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, on Pilgrim Way, Brodheadsville, is hosting a community egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 8. In addition to the egg hunt, there will be pictures with the Easter bunny, a bouncy house, arts & crafts and the Snack Shack will be open for food and drink.

• St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, invites the community’s children to participate in its reinstated Easter Egg Hunt on April 8. Children ages 2 to 10 are invited to hunt for colorful, candy-filled eggs on the lawn of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, at 924 Route 115, Saylorsburg. The start time is 10 a.m. Children should bring a basket or bag for collecting the eggs.
