Carbon CERT course scheduled for Feb. 11-12

The Carbon County Emergency Management Agency will hold a disaster preparedness training course in February.

The CERT program is designed to introduce county residents to free training in the areas of first aid and triage, disaster preparedness, fire suppression, search and rescue and terrorism awareness. It will be held at the Carbon County EMA, 1264 Emergency Lane, Nesquehoning from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 11 and 12. Attendance of both sessions is required for course completion credit.

“Neighbors helping Neighbors” is the goal of the course.

In the event of a disaster-emergency, as a CERT member, you would be recognized as a trained civilian volunteer to help and assist the Municipal Emergency Service Organizations within your community.

To register for the course, call the EMA at 570-325-3097 or email ccema@ptd.net.
