Virtual Community Health Worker Info Session

Do you love your community, want to have a positive impact on it, and have a passion for helping your neighbors?

Attend a free virtual information session about the Community Health Worker career on Feb. 10 at 2 p.m., Feb. 23 at 10 a.m., or March 14 at 1 p.m. Training is available through Northampton Community College.

As a CHW, you will help individuals overcome barriers to care by linking them to their local community resources.

The Affordable Care Act mandates that CHWs are to be members of health care teams in patient-centered medical homes or in accountable care organizations, causing this to become a growing field.

NCC’s accredited Community Health Worker training program provides the tools to be successful in a new career with the potential of earning $14 per hour.

Learn QuickBooks

Learn the basics of managing your small business finances with an introductory QuickBooks course (PCBUS100).

Setting up company files, working with transactions and banking will be covered in the class.

Then, continue learning where the introduction seminar left off, or advance your self-taught skills through Intermediate QuickBooks (PCBU200). Customizing forms, creating reports and graphs, inventory, tracking taxes, payroll, and much more will be covered. Both classes use the QuickBooks desktop version.

The introductory class will be held on Feb. 16, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and the intermediate class will be held March 2, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem.

Industrial Maintenance Training Program

Are you a problem-solver? Do you enjoy fixing things and working with your hands? Are you wondering how to get started in a well-paying, in-demand field?

Northampton Community College is offering a 10-week accelerated course, Mondays through Thursdays, Feb. 28-May 5, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

In the Industrial Maintenance Training Program, you will learn the foundational skills of industrial maintenance that will equip you to be successful in this sought-after profession.

The course is grant-funded and free to eligible participants.

Free Dental Assisting Information Session

Start a new career as a dental assistant.

As a dental assistant you will become a valuable member of the dental health team, and, as part of this team, perform duties requiring application of both interpersonal and technical skills.

Under the supervision of the dentist, your job duties will include preparation of instruments, materials and equipment according to the dental care plan, assess and educate clients and gain consent, perform delegated duties within the scope of practice, perform office administration tasks, greet and prepare the client for his/her appointment, and assist the dentist, hygienist and other office staff throughout the workday.

A free information session will take place at 6 p.m. on March 3, at the Fowler Family Southside Center and be followed by a tour of the dental laboratory.

The training program begins June 1 with mandatory orientation.
