Effort woman taking supplies to Kentucky

Tonya Robinson of Effort is on a mission to take supplies she collected herself and from donations to the people in Kentucky devastated by recent tornadoes.

“I will be working through Samaritan’s purse and a local church down there,” she said.

Robinson is using her husband’s truck, covered with a tarp, to drive the desperately needed supplies of water and food for victims and volunteers, along with food for the dog shelters.

Another need is cleaning supplies, including soap, gloves, trash bags, and paper towels and also toilet paper.

“You have to keep in mind it isn’t just the victims, you are also helping volunteers because they need the same supplies, in order to go out and help people,” she said.

Robinson planned to leave this morning to begin her trek to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to deliver her load of donations.

“I will stay longer than two days. I may stay a week. The placement in the church has to accommodate a certain number of male/female volunteers,” she explained.

Robinson hopes to make a second trip down when she returns from this one, and anyone who would like to donate supplies can let her know through Facebook

You can go to her Facebook page, Tonya Lynn, if you wish to follow her trip. She also uses it for Messenger.

She said, “I know it’s a sense of urgency, but so are disasters. Please pray for me and all the tornado victims, families and volunteers.”

Crystals Mexican Restaurant in Brodheadsville was one of the drop off places for the donations to go to Kentucky.
