A man is dead and another person injured after a shooting in Mahanoy City Sunday.

Emergency personnel responded to the 100 block of East Centre Street for the incident.

Deputy Coroner David Truskowsky, who was dispatched at 2:54 a.m., said two people were shot and one was flown.

He pronounced the man dead, who was on the sidewalk, at 3:32 a.m. Another person was taken by ambulance and flown to a hospital, he said. He did not have additional information. State police at Frackville are investigating the incident and were still on the scene this morning.

Schuylkill County Coroner David Moylan III said he heard police are investigating it as a homicide. He said police will release more information.
