FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:

• Accepted the resignation letter from road crew member Aaron Schoch.

• Hired Justin Andrews and Michael Quigley as full-time employees to the road crew and sanitation crew, with a start date of Monday.

• Accepted the 2022 MMO for the Franklin Township police pension plan in the amount of $44,850.

• Accepted the 2022 MMO for the Franklin Township nonuniformed pension plan in the amount of $54,956.

• Adopted a resolution requesting a Local Share Account grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for parking lot modifications located at the fire company on behalf of the fire company, chairman of the board of supervisors and secretary-treasurer to execute all documents and agreements.

• Authorized the township engineer to send the Delongs (no address given; it is an empty lot off Rock Street) a cease-and-desist order on behalf of the supervisors pertaining to violations of the stormwater ordinance.

• Authorized to amend the stormwater ordinance to designate the township engineer, township zoning officer and township police officers (besides the board of supervisors) to enforce the stormwater ordinance.

• Released Rockland Energy’s financial security, per township engineer Greg Haas’s letter stating the project is complete.

• Approved the letter of request from Perfect Balance Boutique for use of the Christman Ballfield to hold an Inflatable 5K Obstacle Course to be held from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 16. Proceeds will benefit the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

• Approved officer Christopher Lekka’s application for heart and lung benefits beginning Aug. 9, 2021.

• Approved the employee handbook, and rescinded a resolution (prohibition against sexual harassment) as the new employee handbook addresses sexual harassment.

• Announced that an Electronics Recycling Day will be held for township residents only from 9 a.m. to noon (or until truck is full) Saturday at 889 Fairyland Road next to the township’s recycling bins.

• Announced a change in garbage collection for the Columbus Day holiday, as the Monday, Oct. 11, pickup has been changed to Tuesday, Oct. 12.

• Scheduled trick-or-treat night from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27.

• Approved the volunteer fire company members to attend the Lehighton Halloween Parade on Oct. 2, with the rain date to be Oct. 3.

• Extended the Declaration of Disaster Emergency until Dec. 31.
