Two charged with stealing from Lowe’s

Two people from Tamaqua have been charged with stealing from the Lowe’s store in Mahoning Township.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Amie Barclay of the Mahoning Township Police Department in the case against Phillip Ryan IV:

On Aug. 10, Barclay received information from the Asset Protection office of Lowe’s in regard to a retail theft that occurred on July 3 at 5:32 p.m.

The defendant, Ryan IV, 32, was seen on video with the co-defendant, Ashley Bynon, 27, enter the store empty-handed.

Bynon walked around the store as Ryan selects items and placed them into a shopping cart, before walking away from the shopping cart with a cellphone up to his ear.

Bynon then comes into the frame, takes the shopping cart and walks to the customer service desk where she returns the items in the shopping cart with a valid receipt.

The total amount of the items were $178.95.

Both Ryan and Bynon left the parking lot in a vehicle registered to Ryan.

Both face charges of retail theft and criminal conspiracy, and are scheduled to have preliminary hearings Oct. 20 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
