Bonus round for doe tags open; see what remains

Hunters can now apply for the next round of doe licenses.

The first bonus round for wildlife management unit licenses began today.

According to the Hunt Fish PA website, there were 2,141 WMUs remaining in the 4C area, which covers part of Schuylkill, Lehigh and Carbon; 17,850 WMU tags in 3D, which covers part of Carbon and Monroe; 18,471 tags in 4E, which covers a portion of Schuylkill; and 58,979 in 5C, which covers Lehigh and Northampton counties.

On Thursday, Carbon County Treasurer Ron Sheehan provided an updated with the license figures in Carbon.

As of Thursday morning, 5,286 applications were processed and 129 applications were rejected. Sheehan said that most of the rejections were for reaching personal limit.

Applications processed between July 12-23 were mailed on July 28 and applications received between July 26-30 will be mailed on Aug. 6.

Applications for these bonus rounds has increased to $6.97, Sheehan reminded hunters.

He also encouraged hunters to put down second and third preferences on applications since 4C is expected to sell out.

In addition, Sheehan said 5C will not have unlimited tags through the mail as it has done in the past.

“Our office has been working very hard to try to get everyone the doe tags they need,” he said.
