While filling a prescription online, my wife took notice that our local pharmacy was providing the COVID-19 vaccine. I immediately scheduled my first dose for a Jan. 26 appointment. On Jan. 25 I was reminded of my next-day appointment. I preprinted necessary paperwork, completed beforehand to save time.

Fearing the worst, I was pleasantly surprised to see how smoothly and well-organized the vaccine process was being administered. It took 10-15 minutes to receive my shot, followed by a 15-minute stay in a waiting room to ensure my wellness. I was assured I would be contacted for my required second dose.

I was contacted and informed my follow-up shot would be on Feb. 23. On Feb. 22 I was reminded of my next-day appointment. My second dose experience went as gratifying as my first, if not even smoother.

I want to reach out to the Mauch Chunk Pharmacy staff to show my appreciation and applaud their efforts in making this experience as pain-free as possible. I do not imagine that I would have received the same treatment at a major pharmacy. It was a ray of sunshine during the dark, dreary days of COVID. Support your local businesses.
