Lehigh County Aging and Adult Services and Carbon County Area Agency on Aging and Carbon Transit has partnered with LANTA to provide transportation for older residents seeking travel accommodations to COVID-19 vaccination sites.

The partnership came as a result of residents struggling to make their appointments without a reliable means of transportation. This program will be free to the public without any cost to the resident.

Both Lehigh County Aging and Adult Services and Carbon County Area Agency on Aging will provide LANTA with the required funding to cover the shared ride cost for residents.

Qualified residents need to be 65 years or older to register for the Shared Ride for Seniors Program through LANTA Customer Service in order to receive transportation.

Susan Zeigler, administrator of the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging, said that qualifying residents will need to call LANTA to schedule the ride and state during the call that it is for a vaccination appointment. The person must also be going to a vaccination walk-in location such as a medical facility or pharmacy within Carbon County.

Applications for Lehigh residents can be completed by calling 888-253-8333 Sunday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Schuylkill County

In neighboring Schuylkill County, STS will be offering free transportation to all Schuylkill County residents in need to receive their COVID-19 vaccination starting Monday.

A verified appointment for the vaccine within Schuylkill County is required.

A reservation will need to be made with STS no later than noon the business day before your vaccine appointment.
