Several members of Palmerton Area High School’s varsity and junior varsity girls volleyball teams and the football and boys basketball and track and field teams faced off in the Volley for a Cause fundraiser Friday at the high school.
The event raised $1,885.74 for Raising the House, named after beloved Towamensing Elementary teacher Blaine House.
The organization raises money to provide food assistance, scholarships and educational initiatives to Palmerton students and families.
“It means so much because it’s such a good cause,” said junior Nina Mendes. “It really helps out the kids who need it within our school and their families.”
As for the event itself, girls volleyball captain Morgan Wayda, a senior, said, “It’s always fun and this being my last year makes it special.“
Football’s T.K. Gursky and Parker Davis shared the same sentiments, “This was so fun and we all had a great time.”
