The Panther Valley School District went on lockdown Monday morning after the intermediate school received a threatening phone call, its superintendent said.

“Similar phishing calls have been made to school across the country. Out of an abundance of caution, the district immediately placed all school in lockdown while confirmed that our students and staff were safe,” Superintendent Dave McAndrew said in a message to families.

“At this time, there is no indication of a credible threat to any Panther Valley school,” he said. “However, we will always take any report seriously and act promptly to protect our students and staff.”

The district has prepared for situations like this, McAndrew said.

“We are grateful for the quick response of our staff and law enforcement partners,” he said. “All students and staff are safe, and classes will continue as normal.”

The incident happened mid-morning and was resolved before noon.
