Bowmanstown residents ask council to fix damaged roads

Residents who live in a Bowmanstown development have implored borough officials to fix their damaged roads.

Phyllis Kreiss and Fred Kleintop from Meadowcrest Manor addressed borough council on Tuesday.

Kreiss, who resides on Mill Street, said there are big ruts on her road.

“It’s been going on for the last two years,” Kreiss said. “It got progressively worse last year.”

Kleintop, who lives on Lime Street, said his road is also in dire condition.

“I will not drive up the road any more,” Kleintop said. “Your road program never gets to the 600 block of Lime Street.”

Further, Kleintop said it’s gotten to the point that the road has disintegrated.

“It will look like a dirt road by summer,” he said. “Nobody can use their snowblowers because all it does is suck up the road.”

Council members agreed something needs to be done; otherwise the conditions of the roads will only get worse.

Council then instructed borough engineer Jessica Rehrig to check the roads and provide a recommendation.
