Pa. reports 552 new cases in Northampton County

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Friday that there were 9,643 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 834,048.

The department of health noted that today’s case counts include backlogged antigen testing data from urgent care centers; 4,052 of today’s newly identified cases had their specimens collected over a week ago. The DOH will continue to report on backlogged data from urgent care centers over the next couple days.

There are 3,691 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 753 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of 11:59 p.m. Thursday, 159 new statewide deaths were reported.

Through Thursday, 546,00 people have received one dose of vaccine and 173,328 have received two.

Local numbers:

• Carbon County added 34 new cases since Thursday for a total of 4,321. One more death was reported for a total of 123.

• Lehigh County has 27,820 cases, an increase of 288 since Thursday, with two more deaths for a total of 684.

• Luzerne County has 22,542 cases, an increase of 130. There were 10 more deaths, bringing the total to 611.

• In Monroe County, there are 68 new cases since Thursday for a total of 8,469. One more death was reported for a total of 244.

• In Northampton County, there are 552 additional cases, for a total of 22,687. There were three additional deaths for a total of 564.

• Schuylkill County reported 11.078 total cases, 95 new cases. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 333.
