2 charged in Nesquehoning drug bust
Nesquehoning police have charged two people following a drug bust in the borough last week.
Salvatore J. Canzoneri, 33, of the unit block of East Garibaldi Avenue; and Tara Lynn Hertzog, 36, of the unit block of East Railroad Street, both in Nesquehoning, face drug related charges as a result of the investigation.
According to affidavits filed by Nesquehoning police on the pair, Detective Richard Neikam and Patrolman Kyle Sabulsky had been investigating Hertzog’s home from Dec. 18 to Jan. 21 for narcotics sales.
During that time period, several reports stated that narcotics were being sold at the property and several overdoses had occurred at the home.
The house in question, police said, was being used by known drug users as a flop house.
Police from Nesquehoning and Lansford, as well as Pennsylvania State Police, executed a search warrant on Jan. 21 and seized 538 wax packets that are used to hold heroin or fentanyl, a plastic container of what was believed to be fentanyl and other drug packaging materials.
In addition, officers noted the home was littered with drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested everyone who was at the home at the time and during interviews, learned that Hertzog, who is leasing the home, allowed Canzoneri and his girlfriend to stay in the home.
Both Hertzog and Canzoneri purchased, sold and delivered the drugs.
They were arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on Tuesday and are in Carbon County Correctional Facility after being unable to post $100,000 monetary bail.
Preliminary hearings have been scheduled before Kosciolek on March 3.
Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith said the investigation is ongoing.
