Shots fired outside bar; Schuylkill man charged

A Schuylkill County man is facing multiple charges following an incident that occurred at 8:42 p.m. on July 26.

State police at Schuylkill Haven responded to Front Street, in Cressona borough, for a report of shots fired outside the Hot Rod Bar and Grill.

A vehicle, a 2020 Ford Fusion, fled the scene prior to the arrival of troopers. While searching for the vehicle it was located and a traffic stop was made. Upon approaching the vehicle troopers saw a BB gun on the passenger side front floor.

The driver was identified as Brian Peterson, 21, of Pottsville.

He was taken into custody for terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct. While in custody Peterson began making suicidal statements and threats toward law enforcement. He was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, for a mental health evaluation. While at the hospital he made additional threats toward hospital staff. Additional charges are pending, troopers added.

Troopers listed six people as the victims of Peterson’s actions.
