Honor student Kaiya Emily Rang, a sophomore at Upper Merion School District in Bridgeport, has been nominated to The Congress of Future Medical Leaders which will be held at Harvard University in Boston on June 24, 25 and 26.

The Congress is an honors only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research. This event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct top students in the United States interested in medical careers.

Kaiya’s nomination was signed by Mario Capecchi, Nobel Prize winner in medicine and the Science Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.

During the conference, Kaiya will hear Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science winners speak about leading medical research and be given advice from Ivy League and top medical school deans on what to expect in medical school and she will work with fellow teen science prodigies. She will also observe an active surgery and be able to ask questions.

The program encourages and mentors students who wish to devote their lives to the service of humanity as physicians and medical scientists.

At the end of the Harvard Conference, Kaiya will be presented with The Award of Excellence for Future Medical Leaders.

Kaiya is a member of Upper Merion’s High School crew team and has won gold and silver medals in rowing. She is also a member and competitive rower for the private crew club, Pegasus, in Norristown. She is a member of Upper Merion’s Field Hockey Team.
