Schuylkill Haven state police report on crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes:

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:34 a.m. on May 23 along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Levi T. Joulwan, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2007 BMW 328XI northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole. Joulwan was not injured.

He was cited for the crash.

• A crash involving two tractor with trailers occurred on May 23 at 8:04 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Foster Township.

Troopers said Joshua J. Juul, 40, of Fosterville, New York, entered the interstate from the Minersville exit the wrong way and was in the middle of an illegal U-turn when his rig was struck by one operated by Steven F. Leuschner, 56, of Baltimore, Maryland. Leuschner was taken to the Lehighton Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, from treatment of a suspected minor injury. Juul was not injured. Leuschner’s truck was towed.

Juul was cited.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:47 a.m. on May 28 along I-81 in Kline Township. Troopers said Heather M. Owens, 32, of Glen Allen, Virginia, was northbound in a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban when her vehicle struck a deer that had entered onto the roadway in front of her. Owens was not injured but her vehicle was towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 11:50 a.m. on May 30 along Lake Front Drive in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Donna R. Burke, 73, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2013 Ford Explorer westbound and negotiating a curve when the vehicle left the road and went onto the berm where it struck a tree. Upon impact the Ford overturned and came to final rest on its driver’s side. Burke was assisted out of her vehicle by passing motorists. She was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed. She was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 7:54 p.m. on May 26 along Route 895 in Washington Township. Troopers said a 17-year-old female from Orwigsburg, was driving a 2010 Honda Civic eastbound when she became distracted by an animal on the side of the road. The vehicle left the road and impacted with a dirt embankment and then struck a utility pole, where it came to rest. The teen suffered a suspected minor injury and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg. The vehicle had to be towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:56 a.m. on June 8 along Route 443 in Washington Township. Troopers said Kenneth L. Breisch, 75, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox westbound when a deer entered the road and the vehicle struck it. Breisch was not injured. The Equinox had to be towed.
